Finding Fulfillment in Following God

Starting Over

Welcome!

I’m so happy you found me.

You want to know what I’m proud of?

I’m proud of you!

Proud of you for wanting to make a change in your life, and for even recognizing in the first place that a change needed to be made, but most of all, of that fact that in this change you have decided to try a new approach to life, from His perspective rather than your own.

Metanoia

“A transformative change of heart – especially a spiritual conversion” – Mirriam-Webster

This kind of change is usually brought on by one of two strong movements of the soul:

  • Perfectionism

Maybe your plan isn’t working and your perfectionistic heart isn’t satisfied by the emptiness of everything this world has to offer

The young man said to him, “[…]what do I still lack?” Jesus said to him, “If you wish to be perfect, […] then come, follow me.”  – Parable of the Rich Young Man – Matthew 19:20-21

  • Or Regret?

or maybe your life has completely gone up in smoke and you are battling shame, self-loathing, fear, wounds, scars, and mental health problems of all kinds.

They said to him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act of committing adultery…” – John 8:4

Either way…

You’ve decided to listen to that tugging in your heart, that ring of truth deep down telling you that there has to be something more, something better.

And that is DEFINITELY something to Celebrate!!

Never too Late

if I’ve ever learned anything in this life, it’s that it is never too late, and nothing is ever “too bad”. It’s never too late to come to Him, to turn around, to be held, and be healed.

But while he was still far off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion; he ran and put his arms around him and kissed him. – Luke 15:20 (Parable of the Prodigal Son)

“Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said…” – Mark 10:21 (Rich Young Man)

Then Jesus straightened up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” She replied, “No one, sir.” Then Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go, [and] from now on do not sin any more.” – John 8:10-11 (Adulterous Woman)

Please don’t look at me like I’m somehow the girl who’s got it all together.

I am 100% not special. 100% normal. 100% human. I have made so many regrettable mistakes and suffered the same longing, guilt, depression, and pain that you feel. Even if I haven’t suffered it personally (exactly), I have walked through the misery of regret with countless students, mentees, beloved family members and my dearest friends: incarceration, abortion, divorce, betrayal, addiction, trauma, broken relationships, and unhappy unions of every kind and I feel their pain as if it were my own.

Hope

Life on our own away from Eden is so very broken, truly a “valley of tears”, but there is ALWAYS hope.  There is healing. There is a future for you!

For I know the plans I have for you says the lord, plans to give you hope and a future. – Jeremiah 29:11

He is Calling you!
